These lava cones and strange shapes are grinding mills for flour. Each mill consists of two mill-stones, one stationary cone and one hollow and shaped like a funnel. The funnel-shaped stone had a hole in the top for the corn and slots in the sides, into which wooden levers could be inserted so that the stone could be rotated.
