For much of its length the Murray forms the border between New South Wales and Victoria, slowing its course on reaching South Australia to meander slowly to the sea.
Several of the old Murray-Darling paddle steamers still cruise the Murray through spectacular riverlands and provide a lazy way to see the scenery, some aborginal sites and the great variety of flora and fauna.
