When I was visiting the Castle, the Keep contained an exhibition based on a time when it was being prepared for Henry VIII who was visiting to inspect the coastal defences at Dover in 1539.
The first room is displayed as being in use by the many workmen needed to prepare the building for the king. Then the Presence Chamber, the main ceremonial chamber where the King sat on the Great Chair of Estate to give audiences. Finally, the King’s Bedchamber with the royal bed and his most personal possessions.
