Turkey is an interesting country. The contrast of very old and very new on the dividing line between Europe and Asia is unique. Old and new live together in a way that is rare in the world today.
I have been working in Istanbul now for several years but rarely get time to venture outside Istanbul.
I do occasionally get to visit some of the fascinating archeological sights and have been to Troy, Pergamum, and Ephesus. In May 2006 I drove from Izmir to Cappadocia, via Priene, Miletus, Didyma, Aphrodisias, Pamukkale, Hierapolis, Catalhöyük, and Cappadocia. I took plenty of photographs on the way as you can see from the list on the left.
I still have to get to Ankara and many other archeological sites and I managed to miss every Caravanserai on my route so must find at least one sometime.
