The House of the Virgin Mary & the Church of St John

The House of the Virgin Mary is in the hills at Panaya Kapulu just above Ephesus. It is built in the shape of a cross with a dome and is almost completely reconstructed. It is now a Chapel. There is also a baptism pool and fountain nearby.

The Church of St John is one of the most important buildings near Ephesus. It was built in the 6th Century AD over the tomb of St John who died in Ephesus in 100 AD. There is a model of the church in the grounds and a substantial part of the building is still standing.
