In 1776, the Spanish established the Presidio of San Francisco, followed by a mission,
Mission San Francisco de Asís (Mission Dolores) but it didn't really start growing until
the Gold Rush of 1848. It is now the 13th largest city in the USA. The most famous landmark
is the Golden Gate Bridge.
I haven't been to San Francisco for many years but it doesn't seem to have changed too much -
except along the waterfront. The skyscrapers are also getting taller. The Cable Cars were
reintroduced in 1984 and continue to fascinate as do the Streetcars and trams.
