Beamish Museum is an open-air museum located at Beamish, near the town of Stanley,
County Durham, England. The museum aims to preserve an example of everyday life in
urban and rural North East England at the climax of industrialisation in the early 20th century.
The town area contains Victorian buildings as they might have been in 1913 using buildings
moved here from all over the surrounding area. The Colliery village
includes miners' cottages from Hetton-le-Hole and the Wesleyan Methodist chapel from Pit Hill.
We went in the winter when there are fewer people, but also fewer parts of the museum open.
