The Lady Chapel was built 1321-1349 by Alan of Walsingham. The carving is some of the most elaborate of the period. It is a huge room, bigger than most parish churches. Some of the paint can still be seen on the wall carvings so it is possible to imagine what it would have looked like when it was freshly painted. The carving is very intricate and must have been beautiful before it was defaced in the Reformation.
My favourite pieces are the bosses in the ceiling. They are a long way up but I have managed to get some in focus (I knew I should have taken my tripod).
