The Forum

In the first century AD, the Romans moved the marketplace from the Agora to the Roman Forum. It was smaller than the Agora, but grander. What remains of the marble-pillared courtyard is splendid.
At one end of the Forum is the Tower of the Winds. This is also called the Horologion (timepiece), and is an octagonal pentelic marble clocktower. The structure features a combination of 8 sundials, a water clock and a wind vane.
